Great Danes

Temperament: Living with danes is wonderful, once they are past the destructive puppy phase. Our danes are sweet, intelligent, eager to learn and like to please you. Great Danes are a family dog and they need to be in the house with you. Preferably on the couch with you as well. They can be very affectionate but beware this large dog has a very large tongue to slurp at your face with.

Size: Great Danes average about 30-34 inches for males and females are usually 28-32 inches. Male danes can weigh 120-200 pounds and females can be 100-130 pounds. Because of their large size they must be trained from a early age. We have found that positive training methods, like clicker training, works very well for these sensitive dogs.

Envy was born on Dec 21 2004, she is a beautiful brindle with wonderful conformation and an even better temperment. She finished her championship with a group 4 from the classes. She has done some agility and obedience but prefers to be a couch dane who goes on walks.

Ripley was born on April 25 2005, she is a dark brindle with an attitude. This girl thinks that all the attention should be for her...all the time. She may be shown in the future so stay tuned.

Lucy was born on April 25 2005, she is a big beautiful fawn girl who is the sweetest girl in the world. She gets along with everyone she meets and protects the family home - which includes many dogs, cats, sheep, donkeys and horses.

Glory was born March 5 2007. And she is a bundle of live wires....A very large bundle too! Everything is fun for her, and everyplace she goes is an adventure and everyone she meets a new best friend, you cannot help but love her outlook.

We had been waiting forever to get a puppy from her sire and she was well worth the wait. Watch for her at the upcoming show in Saskatoon this May. So Glory was learning the ropes at the show, and although we didn't earn any points we are pleased with our baby girl dane, and can't wait to get her out to other shows.

Ch.Paquestone's 24 karat Gold CGN
June 26 1999 - Feb 16 2007

Gem passed away in her bed beside ours on Friday Feb.16th. She was my first Great Dane, our best friend, our protecter, our teacher of puppies. She is deeply missed.

Gem had dabbled in everything from conformation ( finished her championship from the classes with a group 4) to agility ( first dane to trial in the AAC I believe) and her preferred sport.....squirrel watching, squirrel chasing, anything to do with squirrels really.

Gem was diagnosed with Dilated Cardio Myopathy (DCM) on Dec.20.2006. She had been having regular heart checks up until that point. So far the 2 litters (13 puppies) that we had with Gem, only 1 puppy has DCM. But it is our belief that it is genetic so none of her offspring will be bred.

Azlan passed away in Dan's arms after contracting Parvovirus. Azlan was a fantastic lil guy, he picked up things just by watching and he loved to retrieve balls for Dan. He miss our little lion every day.
